Programmed in this game were various "password" tournaments for online competition. Although these have all been played out, you may still use these codes if you haven't already, but obviously you can't reap the benefits anymore.
To get to the password entry screen, hold Z while pressing start on the title screen. This should cause the "contests" option to appear. From that menu, select "password"
Also, note that some of these are for the American NTSC version and others for the PAL version. Linking to Mario Golf: Advance Tour - Submitted By: musicman2059
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour has the ability to link up with Mario Golf: Advance Tour, so that you can upload your Advance Tour characters and have them earn experience on Toadstool Tour. This, of course, requires that you own both games, both systems, and a GCN/GBA link cable.
To link for the first time, turn on your GameCube with Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour loaded. When you get to the title screen, turn on your GBA, and when the GBALink screen appears, press Start on Toadstool Tour and the Link screen will appear. Press the A button on the GBA, then confirm the transfer, and the two games will link up. After the first transfer, the Link screen will be available from the main menu.
Transferring will transfer the following data to each game:
Advance Tour -> Toadstool Tour:
Character data
Taunts and supports
Custom clubs
Toadstool Tour -> Advance Tour
EXP. earned in Toadstool Tour
Toadstool Tour stats (will add a "Nintendo GameCube" option under "Records" in Advance Tour
Extra characters and star holes will be unlocked based on Toadstool Tour stats.
Super Backspin and Super Topspin - Submitted By: musicman2059
When stopping your shot meter, you may have already noted that you can tap AA for a topspin and BB for a backspin, starting with the button you pressed to stop the meter. However, you can get these spins to a greater effect with their super counterparts. When stopping the shot meter, press AB for a super topspin, and BA for a super backspin.

The Hole in One Contest can be unlocked by holding Z while pressing the start button on the title screen. This will cause the "Contests" option to appear on the main menu. You'll find the Hole-in-One contest under this newly-opened option.

There are four unlockable characters in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. To unlock a star character, you must defeat a character that has challenged you in a character match. (This is noted by an envelope icon over their character icon when selecting an opponent.)
Star characters have farther drive distances than their normal counterparts.
