Initial D: Arcade Stage Description:

Originally an anime and manga, Initial D: Arcade Stage pits the player against a number of characters from the manga in one-on-one racing battles up and down real-life mountain roads in Japan. This unique racing game, featuring a wide variety of cars, stunning graphics, and energetic techno music straight from the anime, instantly became a hit with Asians around the world, and many other races, too. This game was one of the first to use a card-saving system; if the player wished, he/she could buy a card from the machine that would save their car preferences, progress through the game, and best times. Additionally, as players progressed through the game, they would earn points towards customizing their car with different parts.
In 2003, Initial D: Arcade Stage: Version 2 was released, adding two more courses, a few cars, a third "Bunta Challenge" play mode, and races in wet conditions. A year later saw Initial D: Arcade Stage: Version 3, where two more courses, even more cars, and a snowy version of one of the more popular courses, Akina, was added. Fortunately for card-holders, they could insert an older-version card into a newer version and upgrade their data to the newer one.
